Hello to Friends far and wide,

As you may or may not know, our son Isaac Wollman has been challenged with kidney failure. It’s called IgA nephropathy, and it’s more common than I had ever thought. He has been through so much since he awoke early Thanksgiving morning with shortness of breath. The story goes on, and I have started a CaringBridge website for him.

He has been on dialysis since November 27, and he must have treatments 3 days a week for 4 hours each treatment. We learned on Monday that there is no chance for regaining function, and so he will have to find a new kidney. We’re putting out the call far and wide – for anyone who wishes to be tested for possibly donating a kidney. You can learn more about kidney donation at www.mayoclinic.org/kidney-transplant/livingdonorfaq.html

His family will be tested for a match. We’re hoping and praying that one of us will be a near-perfect donor, but we don’t know. We certainly don’t expect anyone to donate. But we know that casting a wide net is the best way to locate a compatible donor. Becoming a donor is not difficult – it’s a simple blood and urine test – and the chances of a match are slim. But there’s magic in numbers. Please visit Isaac’s CaringBridge website at caringbridge.org/visit/isaacwollman.

And please send kind thoughts and prayers of hope for our son.
Love,
Linda
