Women who have experienced abuse are powerful!

Women who have experienced abuse are powerful!   Women who have experienced abuse are powerful! Women who have experienced long term abuse are leaders! You may think to yourself: “what is she seeing that I don’t see in this statement?” I see another perspective and understanding of life coupled with how we as women tend to perceive our position in life. Years ago my ex-husband exclaimed that I had ruined his life and it continued even after we divorced. When I related this to my lifelong friend she said to me, “you sure are powerful.” I didn’t understand what she meant for years. I’ve since come to a new enlightened understanding about this statement. A movie I watched many years ago came to mind; The Story of O. O was a willing slave for pleasure. What I realized was this: the master is nothing without the slave. The slave actually has more power over the master by giving herself to him. Following this notion brought on a new observation for me; no matter how powerful a person may be in the outside world (whether man or woman) if they are insecure deep inside, they may bully and abuse those they profess to love. Those who abandon their dreams will discourage yours. A person who has received abuse will eventually find their voice and empowerment, rebel or escape and gain inner strength to change the situation. Is it possible that abuse helped them find their voice? Of course the notion is harsh, but what if its true? There are many successful people in the world with tales of abuse they have overcome from survivors of prison camps, the King of England to Oprah. Part of what made them great and openly share their struggle is the empathy they felt for others. It is the drive to make the world a more understanding and compassionate place in which we live. It is the personal awareness of the humiliation they experienced, compelling them to make a difference. You cannot gain this compassion or experience unless you have lived it. Abuse deadens the spirit which must be nurtured back to safety and health. You cannot become empowered until you make the choice to stop receiving the abuse. This comes from deep inside your soul and compels you to live differently, and to stop abusing yourself with negative inner dialogue. Is this the legacy you choose to die with?  It’s up to you if this is part of your life story. So, take another look at your life story. You can break the chains of abuse and make a choice to make your life about believing in yourself. You can become all you are meant to be. This is a second chance at life, to live fully empowered, courageously, compassionately and completely. It’s about being vulnerable in a way that allows your wounds to become your strength. It’s about rising to the belief that your conscious connection to your soul is the most important relationship that you can nurture. It is about living with dignity, direction and purpose. Life is what you make it and dreams guide you to follow the call of your spirit and experience all that you came here to be. Your spirit is much bigger than you may imagine. If you have the feeling that life has passed you by, that you were destined for something greater, then the time is here to stand up and do something about it.  Stop holding yourself down and become the leader you are meant to be. Make it a great life. We have the freedom to choose what forgotten dreams in our life look like to us. Together we can make a difference as we believe in each other and the great possibilities that lie ahead of us I see following my dreams as my lifeline to my spirit and following my spirit as my lifeline to my dreams.
